needless to say, it was dissapointing to not see Green Day. as a consolation, we were told to hang on to our tickets for yet another show where Green Day was promised. this show was to take place around christmas. the preceeding show being in April, this made it difficult to keep track of a ticket. be that as it may, the ticket was kept, except, there was no Green Day. bummer.

I remember Green Day having this track record of dodging out of Sacramento shows. 12 years later, the jinx seems to be broken (then again, I probably just stopped paying attention). Green Day played arco arena last night. now, under normal circumstances, I wouldn’t have bought tickets to see them. and, in reality I didn’t. I got thems free. apparently, the show was under sold and fan club members were given two free tickets (thanks Matt for the tickets, & Rachel for going with me).

I stopped listening to Green Day around the time “Warning,” came out in 2000. I was unfamiliar with a good portion of their music they played last night. the thing with Green Day, however, is that their music is uncannily familiar. it was waaay to easy to get into it. right from their mid-crowd entrance, to their pull kids on stage to sing a play guitar moments. they put on quite the show. when they did play the oldies I knew so well, they were met with an uproar of voices singing along with them. it really brought me back (even if Billy Joe did say “Sacramentoooo!” 80 times). back to the show i was supposed to see. back to a time before text messages and pics could be sent up to the jumbotron. back before they had rock band stations between the consessions. and back to when a band hoodie still cost $85. some things never change. and some thing you just have to wait for.

it was fun. more fun than you can believe.

I definitely need to go out to shows. it’s inspiring. my own musical projects have suffered over the years. I’ve created outlets though. and people believe in me. I have the equipment, the connections, the inspiration. I don’t have any excuses.

let’s do this.

back in the days of myspace, i wrote these blogs. i want to revisit them. they won’t make a sense to a whole lot of you…or any of you for that matter. no matter, it’s more of a journal for me. and if you’re reading this: thanks for reading.

in my never ending search for useful/appealing apps (i have a problem…yes, i know), i found, “AppMiner,” a useful resource in finding apps that have gone on sale; either at a discounted price or FREE. you can “watch” apps like you would an auction on ebay, so that you know when it will be at it’s cheapest.

the app is also useful for finding “rare gems” (i am severely over using quotes and parenthesis in this post). for free this week, i found an app similar to TonePad. the app is called “SoundMatrix.” it has the same function as TonePad, however, you can change the tone, tempo, pitch, etc… AND you can email the loop to yourself as a WAV file.

so there it is. i geeked out on the iPhone. found some random things. and now i’m telling you. what more can i say other than, “for $185 you too could walk away with your own iPhone.” yeah, i did the research on that one too.

all that’s left to say is, “i REALLY need to go to town on my music projects!”

or it could be that i’m just not watching anything that inspiring…

Warehouse 13

so now what? I have this blog (now gathering dust) that I’ve seemingly neglected. I’ve seen it a thousand times on other people’s blogs. I’ll be perusing some random blog post, and I’ll see it start out something like: it’s been a while since I’ve posted anything here. it’s tough to update a blog. basically because it means you have to write. micro-blogging (aka Twitter) is great and all, but the blog is the beast with the burden of depth and insight. it’s more than a mere journal. it’s a collection of essays. I’ll admit, I’ve failed to fulfill the latter…I have resolved, however to write. I was an english major before switching to design. I just need to write. write more than a mere “bit.” I have to write something with “byte.” that was a horrible pun. a) I’m sorry for those who don’t get it. b) I’m REALLY sorry for those that do.

you know. all this is pretty obvious. maybe it’s pointless for me to write. lots of people already get it. well, it’s new for me now. and besides, I have the wordpress iPhone app, so I’m gonna use it!

so what now? my blog won’t really supply you with any worthwhile information. it won’t be anything that’s life or world changing. I’m just a guy trying to keep the dust away.

remember that scene in wall•e? where the spaceship breaches the earth’s atmosphere. yeah, that was cool.

a microsoft store will open up right across from every mac store. the latest battle of mac vs. pc will be fought with in-store greeters, corner sign flippers, and free coffee. I can see it now. an unbiased consumer standing on the particular bridge segment in Arden Fair mall right between the mac and microsoft store. he/she is being wooed with streamers and banners. employees waiving their hands and beckoning, “oh, oh, pick us pick us!!”

meh, it’s funny in my head…then again I say that a lot. but I digress.

apple is obviously doing something right. they report positive figures during these hard economic times. so why not copy them? if you go to microsoft’s online store, you’ll see some striking similarities to the apple store. now they might be subtle, but they’re still there.

at any rate, some people think that microsoft will benefit from this. that, “they need a place to show their wide range of products (CNET/News.com poll).” While most people don’t even care (over 41% of those polled) *shrug*

I’m not sure how this is gonna work out. but I am excited about the x-men comic. I’ve seen a few shows by Joss Whedon (ie Dr. Horrible’s Sing Along Blog), and even read a comic of his in a Myspace Dark Horse Presents. he is, without a doubt, a gifted writer. so the x-men motion comic has that going for it.

as for the spider-woman comic, it was wrlitten specifically for this format. the comic’s story, as well as the motion comic concept, were created simualtaneously.

no speech bubbles and limited animation. I’m really curious as to how this will pan out. sometimes limiting a medium can pose interesting solutions based on those very limitations. take the pocket guitar app for the iPhone and iPod touch. I’ve actually written a riff I wouldn’t have come up with if it weren’t for this app. it just took some adjusting (by no means could it replace an actual guitar), but once that was done, so many new possibilities opened up.

so I guess we’ll see. yeeesh what can’t you get on iTunes these days? not that I’m complaining
